About the Role
Vertex Polymer is hiring a Data Engineer to design and maintain reliable data pipelines that support manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial decisions. You will own the flow of data from operational systems into clean, trusted datasets used by analysts and business teams. The work is practical and production-focused: dependable pipelines, clear models, and documentation that others can use without guessing. What you will do: • Design, build, and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines from ERP, lab systems, and operational sources • Model warehouse tables and views that support reporting for inventory, quality, and production • Improve data reliability with testing, monitoring, and clear failure alerts • Partner with supply chain, operations, and finance stakeholders to define data requirements • Optimize pipeline performance, cost, and maintainability over time • Document data definitions, lineage, and ownership so teams can trust what they use • Support ad hoc data needs for leadership reporting and continuous improvement projects This is a remote role. Collaboration is primarily async with scheduled working sessions in U.S. time zones.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent experience • 3 to 6 years of experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, or similar role • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience building production pipelines • Experience with at least one modern stack such as Python, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, or Prefect • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or equivalent) • Understanding of data modeling for analytics (staging, marts, dimensional models) • Ability to communicate tradeoffs and timelines clearly with non-technical partners Nice to have: • Experience with manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial data domains • Exposure to CI/CD for data projects and infrastructure as code • Experience with Power BI or Tableau semantic models • Familiarity with API integrations and event-based ingestion
